Mosaic Dance Theater Company develops and presents original dance, theater, and educational programs celebrating the rich diversity of cultures of the Mediterranean countries of Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. Based in Glen Ridge, NJ, MDTC was founded in 2003 and incorporated in 2005 as a New Jersey nonprofit public benefit corporation. MDTC grew out of projects originally developed by New York Performing Artist Company which toured these projects to schools, universities, and such venues as Lincoln Center, Brooklyn Museum, Paper Mill Playhouse, and the NY International Fringe Festival. MDTC is part of the Guest Artist Series presented at 12 Miles West Center for the Arts in Bloomfield, NJ, where it premiered A Celebration of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean Dance in 2003, Visions of the Near East in 2005, and The Fisherman and The Djinni in fall of 2006, which also played in NYC. Also in 2005, Bloomfield College (NJ) presented MDTC’s Caravan, as part of its Springfest Program. In January 2006, Visions of the Near East was presented by the University of Rhode Island’s Great Performances series. In April 2006, MDTC co-produced with Samara, and was featured in A Special Evening with Momo Kadous in NYC and presents annual “cabaret” evenings in NYC and NJ. |
